consulates and embassy's

If you ever wondered, consulates are for people; and embassy's are for countries. Non Americans probably know that, but I'm not sure many North Americans do much traveling internationally. At least not here in the South. I'm not judging, I'm just stating truth as I've found it here. Anyway... I'm dealing with our Visa application, and emailing the consulate trying to get the most current rules and regulations... So much info on the expat forums and blogs is outdated, that I want to know in my knower that I have all our ducks in a row, so to speak.

We have to take a short overnight trip to Atlanta, but I'm not sure what needs to be done first, hence the email to the consulate. We may have to have documents authenticated in the state they were issued, yikes! That could be a hassle, but I'm trying to be flexible, and keep calm.

The other thing we're trying to accomplish, is remodeling the bathroom and updating the kitchen. We purchased the bathroom cabinets, just a few million pieces to put together and it will be ready for install, and we got the flooring. So at least everything we need is now in our possession, and papaBEAR can get started when he feels like it. And the kitchen, is paint on the cabinets, and new floor, not too extensive, but will make a big impact on potential renters.

Just a little update, it had been a while. Yard sale was a great success, and we sold one of our cars, that's a load off, and replenishing the pocket book. Stay tuned, more 'sizzle behind the scenes' to come.

I mentioned the other day that we are buying things to ship to South America, here's a pic of papaBEAR after 'putting the bikes together'.



We decided there was more inventory here (at least where we knew where to find it) so with the container not being full, we can add some stuff.

We will try to get back in the studio tomorrow morning, then back at the yard sale preparation. I have literally touched almost everything we own, deciding what goes and well, what goes, haha! It ALL has to go somewhere...




We pre-sold some furniture, great news! And I know we will do well with the yardsale, the weather will be sunny and nice, and mostly we can sit back and collect the money! The hard part has been done... Until it's time to pack up the container and get the house ready to rent. But, that is a project for another day. Take care dear ones, muah! Sizzle

yardSALE and stuff

Since I last wrote, I've been getting things ready for our yard sale next weekend. I started with posting pictures online of the furniture, and some one is coming this afternoon to look at and hopefully buy half of it. That would be a nice chunk of change to go in the pocket, but a load off as well, knowing it's sold and gone.

While I was at work the other day, I was talking to my client about selling the car, which I was kinda still driving, and needed for another month, and how that was scary, and another spoke up and said she buys cars... After talking to this woman awhile, she said she would certainly buy the car when I was ready next month, hopefully she'll put a down payment on it, so I know she's serious, then that'll be another huge load of my shoulders.

With preparing for our move, we seem to be hemorrhaging money, we had to spend money to upgrade the bathroom, so the house will show at its best for potential renters, we've been buying things to take with us, because we have more selection and better quality items here in the States. We purchased bicycles yesterday, and baskets, and a tire pump and a lock... You get the idea. But since we are spending $4000+ on this container to ship we better put it to use!

In making our plane reservations for the flight to South America, I asked for business class, that way you get 3 bags each, but... Because we are flying with our pups we can't do business class, so we only get one free bag each. $75 for each additional bag, what a rip off! So again, more stuff will go in the container, good thing we're headed to the beach and I'll only need bikinis ;)

I'm headed to the shower, have to work today, then empty out the furniture in case the lady buys it this afternoon, we'll probably be back in the studio tomorrow. Take care fans, MUAH! sK
